PRAJ is currently engaged in four major capacity-building activities:
Increasing Financial Self-Reliance
|
|
Face-to-face solicitation exercise
during fund-raising training
|
PRAJ recently worked with six NGO partners to promote financial self-reliance. This included delivering 'Full Fund Raising Readiness and Financial Assessments,' conducting 'Fund-Raising Planning Workshops'; providing technical assistance on fund raising plan implementation; and delivering 'Partners Training on Social Enterprise.'
Financial Improvement Team Meetings
PRAJ supports a Financial Improvement Team (FIT) working group for its NGO partners' financial managers. FIT discusses topics such as ways to strengthen the capacity of the finance officers of the partners. FIT has also undertaken efforts to enhance sustainability of the team as a learning circle, developed an action plan, and identified priority topics for its work.
Strengthening Financial Management

Financial Management Training for
PRAJ Partner NGOs |
PRAJ contracted S.T. Fontamillas & Co. to assess three partners and provide those partners with a module on financial management training entitled, 'Accounting Systems and Internal Controls.' Forty people, representing 31 different NGO partners, attended the training. Instructors provided insights on topics such as the accounting cycle, proper recording and documentation, and maintaining internal controls.
Other NGO Capacity-Building Activities
The NGO Development Team and grants managers continually work with grantees on ways to increase the impact of their programs and to improve their organizations. This effort includes: field visits to NGOs in the provinces; consulting with NGOs and network leaders on strengthening their financial management; consulting with NGOs on organizational concerns; and generally working with NGOs toward better organizational operation.
